Vestiges of Industry

We live, we work, we dream. We create. Some people lavish their time, attention, imagination - and even love - on machines. They live, and work - and die. An exhibition by Jean Miele and Pål Otnes.
We are reminded that everything has its time, and all that we take for granted is possible only because we stand on the shoulders of a thousand generations: a thousand generations of ideas about who we are, and who we might be - about what is possible, what is needed, what is beautiful.

By exploring these nearly invisible industrial sites that surround us - physically, photographically, and metaphorically - we forge a connection with earlier times. If we listen carefully, these places tell us stories about the forgotten master-craftsmen who built them, and about the life and times of the people who worked in them. By focusing on single objects that have been left behind, we can almost transport ourselves into another era - a different world than the one we live in. This series invites viewers to meditate on what became of the architects, engineers and workers who belonged to these places, who left one day and never returned, and asks: What will become of us, and the things we make?

Please join us for the opening 5th May at 19.00.
